I alway start in runlevel 3 anyway, it was saying "connection refused"
and "no protocol specified" or somesuch...

It's okay now, it seems that you need to power down for a bit with some
systems before you boot back up, the BIOS and RAM can retain some of the
settings from the other system...

It wasn't the user that changed, it was the login, as in:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] became [EMAIL PROTECTED]

weirdness, but it's okay now.
