That may be true for people who care for such issues like SuSE/Novell.
Newbies who buy "newbie friendly" distros don't even know there may be
an issue.

Here in Germany, the only area SuSE plays a prominent role, SuSE will
stay on top for long because it's a German speaking company, because
they have an infrastructure all over the place (training centers,
resellers, business consultants, etc.). It's like you open a phone
directory and look for Linux, SuSE pops up in the first 200 entries.

There aren't many Germans who vote for "Buy German" like it is in large
parts of the USA but the direct contact via local phone calls and
native tongue support pays out.

If Mandrake could afford to establish one or two offices in Germany
with German speaking supporters and sales reps, they could cut a fair
share of the cake, but not otherwise. It's really amazing how many
Mandrake users there are in Germany, though.

Our German language MandrakeUser.de has met the 300 registered users
mark after 14 days and is still growing. We had more than 3000 forum
entries in 2 weeks and still growing.

Maybe we can help getting some of SuSE's share. ;-)
