1. Download source code package (http://f-spot.org/Download) 2. Unpack it 3. Open po/de.po in some specialised editor like poedit or KBabel. 4. Update German translation. 5. Run 'msgfmt -o f-spot.mo de.po' to create a binary version of the translation. 6. Run 'sudo cp po/f-spot.mo /usr/share/locale/de_DE/LC_MESSAGES/f-spot.mo' to install updated translation. 7. Rerun F-spot to see what has changed. By the way, if you go for SVN version rather than 0.4.4 source code, you need to run 'intltool-update de' inside po directory so that translation file matches current code.
