Shouldn't the display adjust for time zone, so that pictures are in
chronological order, even if without time zone info, they would be displayed in
a different order? Does this happen now?

Sounds promising in any case. Look forward to whatever you come up with, though,
as a non-professional photographer, I don't think I want the time stamps in my
photos to be different from the time that things happened, so I probably won't
want to use this tool...
