Quote " Hutchens Out, HANS Only in 2005 Based on NASCAR testing the HANS
device provides better protection than the Hutchens harness. As a result the
Hutchens device is no longer acceptable in NASCAR and all drivers must wear the
HANS. We've come a long ways since head and neck restraints were first
mandated by NASCAR in 2001. At first it was a struggle just to get everybody to
wear one at all, now NASCAR has eliminated half of the options. "

Sounds like a monopoly to me....

What if Simpson was the only helmet that worked and could be used by these
sanctions???

helmets are not much less than 1k unless you go strict economy... The
hans device is very well made and I think it justifies its cost.
