The new code is for the 'file-info' word which will replace 'stat' and friends. It certainly will not be removed, in fact the old code will be removed very soon. I'll get back to the FreeBSD port, however it has not been a priority lately for the simple reason that very few people use FreeBSD with Factor. You're pretty much the only one. One person is enough, though, and I will find the time to update the *BSD ports soon.
