For what it's worth, I think the documentation is more than sufficient. I only started working with Factor at the beginning of this month and had no prior experience with a stack-based language. Less than a month later, I am able to contribute improvements and new features.
Documentation can only go so far. Your best option is to completely saturate yourself in Factor source code and use the documentation as an assistant.
