I'll ponder the "with" in a few minutes;

In the meantime, indeed it does not compile, which I had not noticed
since I was experimenting in the listener.

Perhaps in some future version, the listener might point out that
situation? ("heh programmer, I will happily run this here so you can
play around, but it won't compile so don't think you are ready to
copy-paste in to your source file.")
