You have a very old version of fail2ban I have found 0.10.2-2 to be more stable. There are newer versions than this as well, but 0.10.2-2 is what I have decided to stick with for now. fail2ban is definitely beta.

I am on an Amazon Linux 2 AMI with Apache 2.4 and PHP 7.2.  I have noticed after a Yum update that fail2ban isn’t catching all of the offenders like it used to. I have proven this by running fail2ban-regex and noticing there are many times more hits that aren’t being blocked.

Before the update, it was blocking just as many hits in the iptables as it was
showing on the regex hit list.

Currently, I have Python 2.7.14 and I am wondering if this distribution may be having problems with my configuration. I had to manually load fail2ban since Linux 2 with Amazon doesn’t permit other repositories.

If so, which distribution would fit my configuration the best.
