        You may recall that I suggested (Mon, 26 Aug 2019 11:37:37) using a set 
of rules, completely separate from Fail2Ban, for my purposes, so that I could 
be confident that f2b rules and my rules were independent and thus were less 
likely to be in conflict.

        I made that suggestion having learned the hard way: it is easier for me to use my 
"droplist" chain than to try to anticipate what might be done by current or 
future implementations of Fail2Ban.
