What time frame? I don't understand what you mean. fail2ban-regex doesn't care about what time a record was entered, as far as I know. It simply reports whether a particular regex would match anything in the file or in the test string.
Oh, sorry, you're right. I misread your question, thinking that the regexp doesn't work when you try to actually use it in fail2ban.
