Specifically, if I remember correctly they were against the Siddhis, which they explained operated in some manner with the cooperation of demons. I guess one of the things I learned by this event was that Maharishi is correct - different belief systems are like wearing different colored spectcles- disscussions tend to be futile. The other thing I learned was that a person's level of consciousness has very little to do with their position within the movement. It was really like a group of middle-aged children yelling in the parking lot. I can hear the protest now: You can't judge a person's level of consciousness by their behavior! To which I will pre-emptively raise the question: If meditation/Christianity doesn't eventually improve your behavior, what good is it? And why bother? Why do you think that protesters are against peace?
