Given the context, "prolongated" strikes me as a term with somewhat of a sexual connotation, as in, "I want to prolongate this argument as long as I possibly can because it makes the moment of climax -- when I lower the boom on my opponent and insinuate that they're stupid and I'm smart -- so much better." Prolongation is like the amyl nitrate ("poppers") of those who get their rocks off by scoring imag- inary points in meaningless arguments. It's what they do instead of sex or having a life. :-) :-) :-)
