Given the context, "prolongated" strikes me
as a term with somewhat of a sexual connotation,
as in, "I want to prolongate this argument as
long as I possibly can because it makes the
moment of climax -- when I lower the boom on
my opponent and insinuate that they're stupid
and I'm smart -- so much better."

Prolongation is like the amyl nitrate ("poppers")
of those who get their rocks off by scoring imag-
inary points in meaningless arguments. It's what
they do instead of sex or having a life.
