Our great Maharishi, Jagadguru to the world, whose tireless efforts for more than 50 years have transformed the destiny of the human race, is, of necessity, retiring from his constant exertion on our behalf and on behalf of the entire world.
I'm struck by the phrase "of necessity." Seems to me it was put in to confirm what most of us suspect, that MMY has become too frail, and almost certainly too ill, to do much of anything but rest. It's not MMY's choice, in other words. Unless I've missed something, this is the only official assertion to this effect that we've seen so far. One can only hope he's relatively comfortable and not in pain.
