Sal, I think the point Shemp is making is about Barry's blatant hypocrisy. I remembered Delia making a wonderful comment about Barry's compulsive use of smiley faces on alt.m.t and looked it up. It's from 2004: "Your 'I'm just here for fun' spiel goes hand in hand with your 'everything is No Big Deal to me' facade. They both come from either being deeply wounded or else scared shitless of being emotionally invested in anything, for fear of being wounded. I don't know whether you're trying to fool yourself as well as other people; but for the sake of your sanity I'd hope that it's only others you're trying to fool with your nonstop cool, 'fun' facade.... "If I thought Barry had actually reached a place where he consistently experienced life as the great cosmic/comic drama, then that would be fine.
