Thank you. > But the bigger issue of Gibson's questioning of Obama is still > inaccurate spin. Still haven't read the blog post, I gather, or my post with any attention. Her *point* (as I noted) was that the two interviews she was comparing were both held right after the candidates became their parties' nominees. That's why she picked the June 4 interview with Obama. The one of him you dug up took place a month and a half *after* he became the nominee. Gibson should have treated both of them the same way: either he should have been tough on Obama in that first interview as the nominee, or he should have been chummy with Palin in *her* first interview as a nominee (or halfway between with both). You really should look at the transcript of the June 4 interview with Obama. The tone is *vastly* different, more like Gibson is chatting with a colleague or a movie star who's just won an Oscar than grilling a candidate. Lots of softballs: What did your grandmother say about your winning? What did your daughters say? You looked so serious during that speech; are you feeling joyful yet? Etc. The reason it's important is because the Republicans can use Gibson's different treatment of the two against the Democrats, to get the GOP base all riled up about the "librul media" and motivated to vote for McCain to teach the media a lesson. The Republicans will squeeze whatever drops of blood they can from Palin the Martyr. Just as the media's rotten treatment of Hillary worked in her favor, it'll work in Palin's favor. It's just bad strategy to criticize Palin unfairly, because of the resentment it will cause.
