It has more to do with allowing the arteries to expand, from my experience. I took it once, in Mexico a few years ago, and didn't like the effect. Seemed very superficial, in that it made my face feel flush, and blood flow increase, without feeling any expansion of feelings in any way...purely a physical response. I didn't like the effect, and wouldn't take it again.
TM has also been found to relax the blood vessels, naturally. I prefer herbs like Ginseng, Saw Palmetto and Ginko Baloba as these seem to increase Shakti, instead of just expanding blood vessels.
