As I recall, King Tony stayed a few weeks and hasn't been seen here since. I
guess he preferred Paris.

I happened upon this gem.(**** added at particularly interesting sections)

(October 15, 2002) Amid cheers, applause, and the sounds of conches and
ringing bells, an exuberant crowd of Fairfield and Maharishi Vedic City
residents gathered together at The Mansion Hotel in Maharishi Vedic City
today to celebrate a truly remarkable achievement- and a significant step
toward peace for the U.S. and the world.

In one short month, they had raised nearly $1 million to purchase The
Mansion, a beautiful 19,000 square-foot building in the heart of Maharishi
Vedic City, and its surrounding properties and 19 acres of land.

**** The Mansion will now become the physical headquarters for the Capital
of the Global Country of World Peace, a "country without borders for
peace-loving people everywhere." The Global Country, which was founded in
October 2000 by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, takes as its
constitution the Constitution of the Universe-Total Natural Law-and is
dedicated to "supporting and nourishing all peoples and constitutions" and
establishing permanent world peace.

Tuesday's celebration at The Mansion was led by the Honorable Dr. Bob Wynne,
mayor of Maharishi Vedic City, and three leading ministers of the Global
Country-His Excellency Dr. John Hagelin, His Excellency Dr. Robert Keith
Wallace, and His Excellency Dr. Michael Dillbeck. The celebration began with
the national anthem of the Global Country and continued with ceremonies of
gratitude, proclamations, speeches, and the official raising of the flag of
the Global Country.

In his address, Dr. Hagelin said that over $900,000 had been raised in one
month towards the $1 million purchase of The Mansion and that a short-term
loan for $150,000 had provided the remaining funds. Over 500 individuals
contributed to the fundraising effort. Dr. Hagelin said that The Mansion and
its surrounding properties were "given as a gift to peace by the generosity
of peace-loving people"

During the ceremonies, beginning at 12:32 p.m. and continuing throughout the
day, the formal transfer of property took place from the former owners of
The Mansion to the Global Country. The time and date had been selected as
highly auspicious according to the Vedic calendar of India.

Significance of Establishing the Capital in Maharishi Vedic City

**** The mayor of Maharishi Vedic City, the Honorable Dr. Bob Wynne, said
that Maharishi Vedic City would now extend a formal welcome and invitation
to His Majesty Raja Nader Raam, the first ruler of the Global Country, to
take up residence in The Mansion and conduct his worldwide activities from
there. The Global Country administration under Raja Raam includes a
40-member cabinet of ministers, among whom Dr. Hagelin is the minister of
science and technology.

**** "To have Raja Nader Raam here, and to have the World Capital of
Maharishi's Global Country of World Peace functioning from here, will
powerfully bless our country, and will draw Maharishi's attention very
strongly here," Dr. Hagelin said.

Only last month Maharishi had expressed his desire to establish a physical
capital for his Global Country, adding that "For everything it will be ideal
to have the Capital of World Peace in Maharishi Vedic City." After the
raising of the flag on Tuesday, Maharishi said, "It is the fulfillment of a
dream-after 50 years, the rise of the flag to give the world ideal
administration-the Constitution of the Universe. Very good. Beautiful. A
huge achievement."

Almost exactly 11 years ago, during the initial groundbreaking ceremonies on
the land where Maharishi Vedic City currently stands, Maharishi had
envisioned this moment and spoke of its significance. He said,

**** "Today, we are on earth establishing the physical structure of the
Capital of the Universe, the physical structure of the Capital of Heaven on
Earth, the administrative center of the Cosmic Administrator of the
Universe. It is a very beautiful time in the evolution of the history of
man, also in the history of scientific pursuit: celebrating the return of
Raam in the Capital.. Today, Vijaya Dashmi [Victory] Day, the negativity was
washed off. The world was purified, and the Reign of Raam, the perfect
administrator, came back to earth."

Raising the Flag of the Global Country of World Peace

Following Tuesday's speeches, local bagpiper Tim Britton, accompanied by
riders on horseback, led the exuberant crowd in a procession to the Capital
flagpole. There the ministers and Mayor Wynne raised the flag of the Global
Country of World Peace.

The flag, a golden sun radiating from within a red circle on a gold
background, was also raised at several other locations in Maharishi Vedic
City to launch new local projects, which include

The Central Bank of the Global Country of World Peace, which will move into
an 8,000 square foot building next to the Capital. The Central Bank will
provide policymaking activities for Maharishi Vedic City and the Global
Country.
The Campus for 8,000 Vedic Scholar students, near the Rukmapura Park Hotel,
where students will create harmony and coherence within the U.S. and
throughout the world through their collective practice of Vedic technologies
of consciousness.
The Maharishi World Peace Vedic Organics Project, a 100-acre greenhouse
project to grow and distribute fresh organic vegetable produce to 30 million
people within 250 miles of Maharishi Vedic City. Crops will be picked when
ripe, when nutritional value is highest, and distributed into the market
within a few hours. Profits from this project will support the 8,000 Vedic
Scholar project.
The City Center and Vedic Cultural Center, which will include tourist
knowledge gardens and indoor pavilions and well as higher density shops,
restaurants, and residential living.
The Maharishi Spiritual University of America and The Ideal Girls School,
offering Consciousness-Based Education for women and girls, which will be
housed in the former Vedic Observatory information center.
Dr. Hagelin said that similar flag-raising ceremonies were taking place in
over 100 countries to launch the Global Country's efforts to establish
"peace palaces" in the world's largest 3,000 cities. These peace palaces
will be dedicated to creating coherence in their cities and the surrounding
area through local groups of 100-200 citizens practicing Vedic technologies
of consciousness.

**** Dr. Robert Keith Wallace, summing up the feelings at the event, said,
"It's a very fulfilling time in the history of Fairfield and Vedic City.
We're sitting now with the opportunity to change everything."
