Yeah, there are many people who subscribe to such Vedic rituals Tom.
Some even pay Vedic and Tantric priests to perform such rituals for
them, believing they cause various effects. So such "Wooo Wooo" as
you call it is relatively common, esp. in TM circles. Believe it or
not some people even spend their hard earned money on it...seriously!
(And no they're not all in mental institutions!)
Some will even pay for magical Vedic rituals to be done in foreign
countries where they're not even present.
