Why almost? And why did you write:
'I want to clarify that the group I was implying is the earth's population'

You know, I was making fun of course.

But on a more serious note, I am objecting to automatically assume that
everyone is following Advaita. Only about 25% of the Indian population follow
an Advaita based tradition, the rest will be following more something like
Ramanuja etc. Same goes with Buddhism, they have no concept of an ultimate
unity, or Jainism.

Not that I have anything against your unity experiences, or doubt them in any
way, I am just so fed up with pop Advaita, that I think I don't really need
Advaita at all. It's just another theory, appealing to mass taste - We are all
one.

Talk with a Buddhist, they will tell you once you realize emptiness, there is
nothing to unite, what do you want to unite? Talk with a Nisargadatta follower,
he will tell you the same, once you realize the illusionary nature of the 'I',
what is there to unite? Nothing quite obviously. Likewise the Jains, the
Vaishnavas have no idea of an ultimate unity.

Smashed potatoes?
