Nope: Unity doesn't imply Siddhis.(but it does point to
evolutionary states beyond "mere" Self-Realization). That's a
whole different DNA orientation which views evolutionary
progression along the lines of Aurobindo.
Advaita Vedanta explicity denounces them, so it's pretty hilarious
to claim they're landmarks of any kind for Unity/Brahman.
I've read many things about them, always via trnslation, since I
don't speak/write Sanskrit. I remain unconvinced that my
interpretation (or MMY's for that matter) is any worse/better than
someone else's.
Probably the best description of higher states of consciousness in
the Shankara tradition, is the jivanmuktiviveka, the Treatise of
Liberation in this Lifetime (Brahman Consciousness). It's still the
standard text in the order. It's author is considered the greatest
Shankaracharin since Adi Shankara. He uses the approach of Patanjali
albeit with several major caveats on the mitasiddhis.
