Some articles have pointed out a couple of valid reasons for the burial at sea: 1. It's a valid Muslim tradition. His body was supposedly washed and dressed in a white cloth, following all Muslim rites. Think how the Muslim world would have reacted if they had dragged his body somewhere and put it on display. 2. It removes the possibility of his gravesite becoming some kind of shrine or place or pilgim- age for radical Muslims. Even if they find the right patch of ocean, it's tough to kneel or stage protests there. To which I add: 3. It sets the crazies up for one more "birther" fiasco. Since the Republicans seem set on self- destructing in the next election, why not give them as much rope as possible with which to hang themselves, while keeping a stash of photo, video, DNA and other evidence to roll out when it's time to reveal what incredible dweebs the "deathers" are.
