You can't really tell because she was so beat up by that time from carrying troops back and forth, and she'd been repainted battleship gray for the duration, but she was just a gorgeous ship. This photo would have been taken after VE Day; she would have been bringing troops back from Europe. They cleaned her up and gave her a fresh coat of paint. Nothing like the sight of her steaming up the Hudson.
