It also means the "kSara of "a"--the collapse of primordial fullness 
symbolized by the sound "a". It is also alluding to all that emerges 
from "a"--i.e. the entire sequence of sounds which make up creation. 
Compare with "akula". akSara is a technical term in Samkhya.
