Highly advanced alien civilisations begin to use their energy more and more efficiently and their 'energy signature' becomes smaller and smaller. Eventually, they become completely invisible and it's very difficult to detect their presence.
Advance alien civilisations also would have evolved beyond their biological bodies and maybe also their silicon bodies. In all probablity when you meet them, they would not be biological entities.
