Coherence rising in world consciousness:
Summary of last week's positive trends

Global Country of World Peace
26 August 2005

Just over four months ago, Maharishi launched the first stage of his global
peace
programme to purify world consciousness and prepare the way for Heaven on
Earth—Sat
Yuga. Maharishi announced that he had established growing numbers of Vedic
Pandits in
India, whose daily performance of Yogic Flying and Yagya would create coherence
in the
collective consciousness of India. With the rise of coherence, Maharishi said,
there would
be a corresponding rise of positivity and harmony within India, and,
increasingly,
throughout the region and the world.

It is clear that Maharishi's programme has produced its intended peaceful
effect, as there
is an unmistakable trend towards reduced conflict and increasing friendliness
and
harmony throughout the world—in particular, in the former major hotspots—or
nuclear
flashpoints—around the globe.

This week, in Asia, we continue to see the strongest influence of coherence
created by the
Vedic Pandits in India. India and Pakistan are continuing in their steady march
towards
peace, as are China and Taiwan. And what would have been unimaginable even a
few
months ago—the crisis over North Korea's repeated threats to test and use
nuclear
weapons is abating as coherence rises in the Korean peninsula, and friendliness
replaces
50 years of bitter rivalry.

Reuters: Koreas; Warming ties between old foes

Newsweek: Extraordinary relationship between the two Koreas 'This is an
extraordinary
moment in the relationship between the two Koreas. This week, for the first
time since
1945, North and South Koreans jointly commemorated their liberation from
Japanese
colonizers at the end of World War II in Seoul. The North Korean delegation
visited the
South Korean Parliament, another first. The two countries also staged a joint
cultural event
where 50,000 spectators chanted, ''Unified Korea, Unified Korea''. The lovefest
doesn't
stop there. Trade is reaching new heights. And cooperation across the
demilitarized zone
is proceeding at dizzying speed.'

Reuters: South, North Korea reach agreement in farm talks

A publication from South Korea called Joongang Ilbo published an article with
the
headline: South Korea's opinion of North improves dramatically.

The New York Times: N. Korea opening door to tourists

The biggest stumbling block to a peaceful resolution to the North Korean
nuclear standoff
has been the North's stubborn determination to pursue the development of
nuclear
weapons against the wishes and pleas of the entire world community. Now,
suddenly and
unexpectedly, the North appears to be sending a message of accomodation:

The Washington Post: N. Korea may be willing to drop nuke plan— 'North Korea
apparently
is willing to abandon its nuclear weapons programs, with a breakthrough
possible in the
current round of international talks, South Korea's foreign minister said this
week.'

And finally, this headline in The Washington Post, utterly inconceivable just a
few months
ago, reads: Nations make good progress in N. Korea talks— 'The drive for a
six-nation
agreement to end North Korea's nuclear weapons program is quite unexpectedly
picking
up speed.'

The rise of coherence in the collective consciousness of the Asian region has
brought an
end to more than 30 years of bloody fighting between the Indonesian government
and
Aceh rebels. This week, for the first time, Aceh celebrated Indonesia's
Independence Day.
Islam Online covered the story with an article entitled: Aceh Celebrates
Indonesia's
Independence Day— 'Two days after signing the peace agreement with the
Indonesian
government, Acehnese marked Indonesia's Independence Day with the Indonesian
government with gala festivities and cultural celebrations. Indonesian flags
were hoisted in
front of Acehnese homes, marking the 60th anniversary of Indonesia's
independence from
former colonial power The Netherlands.'

Malaysian National News Agency reported: Aceh peace deal has positive impact on
Malaysia— 'The signing of the Aceh peace accord in Helsinki on Monday not only
puts an
end to almost 30 years of bloodshed in the Indonesian special province but also
has
significant impacts on Malaysia, its closest neighbour. The cessation of the
arms struggle
by the separatist group, Free Aceh Movement or GAM, whose members are now about
to
rejoin the civil society, hopefully will bring lasting peace to Aceh and, more
importantly,
open up a whole new horizon in Malaysia-Indonesia bilateral relations.'

The light of coherence radiating from India is continuing to create signs of
dawning peace
in the Middle East, where the evacuation of Israel from the Gaza, after 38
years of
occupation, has proceeded with totally unexpected speed and peace.

BBC: Positive signs in Gaza—'The evacuation of settlements is going faster and
more
smoothly than the Israeli government dared to hope.'

CNN: Gaza evacuations peaceful—'Israel on Sunday evacuated three Gaza
settlements
without a single violent incident.'

The Independent (UK): Last of the settlers leave without a fight

Each week we see how the rise of world consciousness is bringing peace to
war-torn
areas. And each week we also see how the rise of coherence is bringing to an
end
outdated principles of administration. This week, we see the growing
recognition of the
failures of democracy—how it divides a nation against itself, how a democratic
government can easily be bought off by special economic interests, and how it
fails to
deliver on its promise to bring a better quality of life to the people. The
false allure of
democracy, once tantalizing to developing nations, is fading fast.

The Wall Street Journal: Arab world grows indifferent to democracy

Finance 24: Democracy a disaster for South Africa poor— 'South Africa's
transition to
democracy over the last decade has been a disaster for the country's poor,'
Cosatu
Western Cape secretary Tony Ehrenreich said this week. 'Economically, our
democratic
government has overseen a disaster—40% of our people are unemployed, and the
inequalities between the rich and the poor have grown rapidly...'

The National Post, a Canadian publication: Latin Americans losing faith in
democracy.

The world's waking up to the hazards of democracy is a sudden and unexpected
development in world consciousness.

Over the past four months of Maharishi's global peace programme, one can only
shake
one's head in utter amazement at how dramatically the world has changed since
Maharishi
launched his global peace programme just a short time ago. Consider for a
moment that:

- Nearly 60 years of hostilities between India and Pakistan—hostilities that
instigated 3
wars and brought the world to the brink of nuclear war—are suddenly and
unexpectedly
being resolved,

- Nearly 60 years of hostilities between China and Taiwan that also fuelled
threats of
nuclear war are suddenly and unexpectedly being resolved,

- Over 50 years of tensions between North and South Korea that also threatened
to break
out into a nuclear war are suddenly and unexpectedly being resolved,

And where tensions still remain, we are seeing a sudden and unexpected progress
towards
peace.

- After 38 years of occupation, which fuelled countless terrorist acts, the
Israeli
government has peacefully left the Gaza without a major violent act—suddenly
and
unexpectedly giving rise to hopes of a real peace in this embattled, war-torn
area of the
world.

All of these sudden and unexpected developments have taken place at the same
time,
during the same four-month window—and for the same reason—the rise of coherence
in
world consciousness brought about by Maharishi's Vedic Pandits in India who are
enlivening Total Natural Law—the Constitution of the Universe, the Veda—in
world
consciousness and thereby bringing the life of every individual and every
nation
spontaneously into harmony with Natural Law.

What we are seeing today in the news is just the beginning. From today onward,
week after
week, and month after month, the world press will be fortunate to continue to
report on
the rise of coherence in world consciousness—and with that the life of every
individual will
rise in enlightenment, the life of every nation will rise in invincibility, and
the whole world
family will rise to enjoy Heaven on Earth—Sat Yuga.
