Far fewer, I would think.

These days, TTC is targeted to specific regions of the world, or such is my 
impression. For example, recently, a Tibetan TM teacher graduated and returned 
to Tibet to teach TM, IIRC.

There's a push by the DLF to get donations for African PTSD Relief, to teach TM 
in Africa. It's a tiny pilot project right now, but I am betting that is at 
least partly because there are very few African TM teachers available, and 
since they prefer teachers to be native speakers, they have to train them for 
each target country.
