My great niece Abby and the Georgia Southern soccer team just won the Southern Conference championship, defeating in penalty kicks by a score of 5-4 Thurman to whom they had lost in their last 17 matchups!
Now the Tigers are off to the NCAA tournament. The great thing is a lot of their starters, including Abbey #6, are just freshmen. Abbey's dad Mike, my sister's oldest son, played football for Arizona State about 25 years ago. My sister and I both played high school basketball and I also played softball in grade school, 2nd base. 50 years ago we won the DC championship. The torch is passed! I got to watch the finish and 45 minutes at the beginning. On ESPN. On my computer!
