Emily, many thanks for letting folks know about my Internet difficulties. I had 
thought my cable modem had perished, 
but as it turns out, the difficulties seem to have been
Comcast's (I'm guessing they were repairing some flood damage
from Sandy, and that disrupted service in my area). At any
rate, everything is back up this morning.

I have to also thank you for the *form* of your announcement.
It gave me a big chuckle in and of itself. But this post of
Share's reacting to that announcement (below) is many times
worth the frustration of my Comcastless evening. The paragraph
beginning "dear FFL" is especially entertaining.
