I heard McAfee interviewed on Alex Jones show recently. He claims the problem is that Belize is corrupt and if you don't pay off those in power there they'll make your life miserable. This claim has been mentioned in some of the news reports and of course if true you won't have the Belize officials admitting it. Belize has been mentioned as a haven for US expats because being a former British colony they speak English and not Spanish and unlike other former British colonies they drive on the right hand side of the road. McAfee claimed that instead of paying off officials he bought equipment and outfits for the police stations and other charitable institutions in the country. Apparently the family running the country didn't like that and when the neighbor was found dead they pinned it on him.
