Maharishi describes it as *Mithya* or a seeming. Since in Indian Philosophy Brahman is the only *reality* all else is an illusion (Lila shakti, or the play of Shakti). However!, when you're *caught* in the illusion it seems real, and all the more reason to extricate yourself from it (the wheel of birth and death or Samsara). Charlie called it the *waking dream*.
