The prosecution had asked for *60 years*. He'll have 3 years knocked off the 35 for time in custody and for mistreatment he received during his pretrial confinement.
He'll be eligible for parole in a little over 8 years. Everything I've been reading suggested he'd be in prison for the rest of his life, so this seems to me to be very good news under the circumstances.
