IMO, it has something to do with expectation. Human consciousness has a way of determining the outcome of events. It can be done through sheer hard work and will power. But the subconscious mind also influences the outcome of events.
Further, in scientific terms, the human consciousness is above the dimensions of space and time. As such, nature follows the desire of the knower.
