Maybe so, but there's nothing quite like posting and replying to messages on an internet discussion forum when you don't have anything better to do. And, it makes you and others feel better when they have somebody to talk to. It's really a high calling and spiritual one too. For some, this is about as close to a spiritual practice as some people get in a day.

For a very select few, all they have to do is get up early in the morning, brew some coffee in the kitchen, and then walk down the hall to their home office and use the company computer on company time for their social networking. Sweet!

From what I've read, one informant who lives in a rented upstairs bedroom in the city, has a laptop, so he just composes messages right from his bed. Then, he goes to a coffee shop in order to get the free Wi_Fi for the posting. Go figure.
