If you click forty minutes into the broadcast (that is almost precisely when
to start the clip) there is a seven minute presentation on the growth of
Buddhism in the People's Republic of China that is going on with the state's
full support. The segment speaks about how the one child policy is leading
to a generation of spoiled children. China hopes that Buddhism will teach
the public about compassion to counter the spoiled attitude. Also, China is
experiencing a tremendous amount of pollution and the country hopes it will
teach people about responsible action to curb pollution. The commentator of
the piece said that the closeness of Buddhism and China is only likely to
increase because the state sees Buddhism as teaching the country valuable
lessons.
