Yahweh was only one of the deities the Jews worshiped. El, short of Elohim was
another and the two were very different. Both Elohim and Yaweh were pagan gods
of the Caananites and those who became the Hebrews. The worship of El preceded
that of Yahweh, but the cult of Yahweh began to supersede that of El and then
the priests of Yahweh claimed Y told them that Y had been EL all along.
Just more very human behavior of those who wish to rule others and have THEIR
god be the bestest god. Read Karen Armstrong's History of God sometime if you
want some good education.

If you've read any parts of the Old Testament, you will find that Yahweh
described Himself/Herself/It as IAMWHOAM in Genesis. Generations of Jews
believe that the Torah was handed to them by their ancestors. As such, the
prophets actually existed in history.
Also, historians and theologians have found that Moses and the prophets existed
in history. It's obvious that Moses and the prophets died. Therefore, they
can't appear before you. But, even if they could, why should they appear
before you?
But apparently you have not done your homework. You should read the Old
Testament and the historical analyses regarding the personalities in them. For
example, it is accepted by historians and researchers that Moses existed and
wrote the first five books of the Torah.
You should think before you write.

Yahweh is IAMWHOAM and does not have a manifested body although It is known by

JohnR, I'll follow up on this because it raises the very issue I just posted
about to Lawson. You're using the language of *assertion*, as if the things you
are asserting are FACT. Why shouldn't that be considered the very
Fundamentalism you've suggested in other contexts isn't a good thing?
Don't you think that in the interest of fairness you should refer to all of
these characters as what they are -- fictional? Or at the very least you should
probably specify that what you are talking about are things that some people
*believe*, but that do not come anywhere near the definition of fact. If you
disagree that these characters ARE fictional, you know that all you have to do
is show them to us. Right?
My point -- as it often is -- is that sloppy language is an indication of
sloppy thinking.
