You'd think that because YouTube recodes every video you upload they'd have some of their wunderkind to develop a way for the audio in all videos the same level. Something like what Dolby did for broadcast HDTV. Problem is that many of the TV station engineers didn't even know what that button the equipment does (never apparently bothered to read the manual). I also understand there is a free open source app that does the same thing for podcasts and some radio stations use it. Maybe the problem is that Google is afraid if the develop such a thing that Dolby will sue them for patent infringement.
