Re "You may think it's a joke - and maybe it is": Do you think that's what Mohammed's contemporaries thought when he claimed to have channeled his revelations from the Archangel Gabriel? She seems rather sweet (albeit a crazy, mixed-up kid) compared to the Prophet with his dire, obsessive warnings of eternal punishment.
