Some shows I can't watch on TV even with Hulu I record the screen on my computer while running an episode. The run a commercial finding app and use the EDL log to create chapters I can insert in a MKV version of the file. Ad comes up hit "next" to skip.

I'm impressed by the ingenuity but distressed that you have to go to those lengths. But TV ads really do kill the atmosphere of a programme. My Panasonic PVR has a really cool editing fucntion that you can use to scan through a show even before you've watched it looking for the channel idents so you can remove ads.

I usually record the show during my morning walk. It doesn't take much time at all to ad the chapter markers. I'll have to look but bet your PVR is banned in the US. Broadcasters hate devices like that. They hate the Dish Hopper for the same reason. Comcast had a "secret" 30 second skip you needed to set up and their OnDemand of shows still have unskippable ads. But they still had the 5 minute skips. Since most breaks were 4 minutes just hit the 5 minute skip then back up one minute. ;-)

Or if you have money to burn just buy episodes without ads on Amazon, VUDU or iTunes at $3 a pop for HD or the whole season at about a discount.
