Indian studios have probably been doing CGI for major US movies for 
years.  This would be a case where some producer in India decided to pop 
for it.  I was involved back in the 1990s with the consortium between 
the tech community and Hollywood to get US colleges to train for 
computer graphics.  A lot  of work was done outside the US because 
colleges here weren't training for it.
