Don't speak too loudly about the 2008 incident. An economic collapse may still
come back and haunt us if the multi-trillion national debt is not reduced.

Flat taxes appeal to people because it gets rid of the joke whichare the IRS
codes. It means simplification. You could also havea progressive flat tax too

The real problem with the US is the standard of living is too highand was
created by allowing too much debt especially among thepublic. The last time
the economy was real was in the mid 1970s. But a total economic collapse might
solve that. It should havehappened in 2008 when it would have damaged the
public less thanthe rich.

That14.5% figure is interesting becauseDonald Trump the last time he ran
forPresident proposed a one-time 14.5% taxon all folks with an estate of $10M
ormore. He thought that would help reducethe deficit. Hence he was not
topopular with Republicans.
Flat taxes have often been proposedbecause our current tax system has
beencorrupted by special interests. It isno long a fair system nor can it even
beinterpreted properly even by IRSagents. The $50,000 exclusion for afamily of
four would help the proposalgain more traction as 14.5% for anyonewith that low
of income is quite achunk.
Paul is more a populist than aRepublican or even Libertarian. Samecan be said
for Bernie Sanders who isshowing great popularity with themillennials. It will
be interesting tosee what Sanders comes up with for a taxproposal as I'm sure
too he feels theIRS codes corrupt.
