Indeed, a profound saying. People who have been exposed to Advaita Vedanta or Buddhist teachings - and the Christian mystics - can get far more out of the New Testament than conventional Christians, especially those Christians who have unfortunate fundamentalist tendencies. Forget what you learned in Sunday School and read the NT with fresh eyes and it's a revelatory collection of documents.
