His shtick is the confessional redemption narrative, how he was lost, then turned into a wonderful person when he found God. If that's your cuppa tea, his misspent youth will make him very appealing. It's what has sold his books and what he hopes will propel him into the presidency. The worse he can make himself sound when he was younger, the better he looks now.
