In fact, we've all been addressing precisely that question. Except that, as I pointed out a few posts back, the general belief then was that the CIA was so insane it couldn't tell the difference between what/who was important and what/who wasn't. Again, it has nothing to do with wanting to believe the TMO was important; it has to do with how nutty the CIA was--at least on this forum.
