It never did. The death was ruled accidental: food poisoning... Part of the anger towards MMY was about how he handled Gurudev's illness. One camp wanted Gurudev to stay exactly where he was while he was ill. MMY wanted him moved. MMY's wishes were followed and Gurudev died. The other camp blames MMY for his death.
