I get you. BTW, the scientists add color for analysis purposes also. I suspect 
that some of 
those turn out to be quite pretty in and of themselves and that's where they 
got the idea of 
the artistic ones

Probably this was pre-hubble, come to think of it--there are mathematicians who 
specialize in artistic scientific/mathemtatical images so its become an artform 
in its own 
right.
