Jyotish has a beautiful, commonsensical, organic quality to it. Constellations are the houses in the oldest system--in other words there isn't the superimposition of a 12 x 30 degree grid onto the sky--it's just as you would see it, and houses are as you would count from constellation to constellation. Very nice.
