Is the home page itself (and its nav node) also approved? Or are they in draft/pending?

These links to the news items work fine when a user is logged in, but if they are not logged in, it takes them to the login page and gives the message, "This page is in draft. Please login with your details below." The thing about this, though, is that the items are approved and should show up. In fact, even with things set to allow drafts to be viewed by anonymous users, the news items will not work without logging in. Am I missing something here?
