This seems to be bound to whatever datatype is selected. So, if the first item in the types list is dmNews, the date filtering range seems to limit itself to the last dmNews item published. If you change the type to dmHTML and click filter, the date range will change. Not ideal, but workable. (Ideal would be some sort of AJAX update on the date fields(?).)
