Have a look at this line
<cfproperty ftseq="13" ftfieldset="Publishing Details"
ftwizardStep="General Details" name="expiryDate" type="date" hint="The date
that this story is hidden from its contents category page"
required="no" default="" ftDefaultType="Evaluate"
ftDefault="CreateDate(Year(now()),Month(now())+6,1)" ftType="datetime"
ftDateFormatMask="dd mmm yyyy" ftToggleOffDateTime="true"
ftlabel="Expiry Date" />

In particular
CreateDate(Year(now()),Month(now())+6,1)

The current month is 7, add 6 to that you get 13 which is not a valid month
number.
